Slack – GoSMTP

Introduction

Once you choose Slack as the notification service in GoSMTP settings, you'll find a field to add Slack Webhook URL. Generate the Webhook URL in your Slack account and paste it there. This connects GoSMTP with Slack, enabling you to receive notifications on Discord whenever a email delivery failure occurs.

This tutorial will guide you through the process of setting up GoSMTP Notification Service with Slack.

Configuration with Slack

To begin, make sure you have installed and activated the GoSMTP plugin.

After installing GoSMTP, you can easily configure the plugin's settings. Just go to GoSMTP » Settings in your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the Notifications tab.

To get started, follow these steps to configure the Notification Services of GoSMTP in WordPress:

Basic configuration

Select Slack option from the Notification Services field.

After selecting Slack as your notification service in GoSMTP Notification Settings, you'll see a field to enter your Slack Webhook URL.
Generate this Webhook URL from your Slack account and paste it into the field to connect GoSMTP with Slack, and receive an immediate alert to your inbox whenever a delivery failure occurs.

Setting up Slack Webhook URL with GoSMTP

To get a webhook for Slack, you are required to create a App in slack, which will let you generate the webhook, which will be used to send event data to your Slack workspace.

Creating Slack App

Go To Slack App Dashboard

On that page click on Create an App

A Popup will show up in that select From Scratch

Now it will ask you to name the App, and select the Workspace you want to let the App control.

Once you fill the details, click on Create App button

Now you will be redirected to Basic Information page for that App.

In the left navigation, look for Incoming webhooks and click on that.

On the Incoming Webhooks page, you will need to enable Incoming Webhooks if not enabled already.

Now scroll down a little and you will find a button which says Add New Webhook

Click that button and you will be redirected, to allow the app access to your Workspace and channel

After you allow you will see that a webhook URL has been generated

Copy that URL and now we need to paste it in GoSMTP plugin field

Now within the GoSMTP Notification Settings, find the field where you are required to enter the Slack Webhook URL. This is where you'll paste the Webhook URL you copied. After entering the Webhook URL, save the settings to apply the changes.
